The RDI service "Advanced simulation and numerical analysis" provides specialist support for the optimisation of 3D models and the validation of technical solutions before the production stage. Using CAD tools, simulation applications and numerical analysis methods, the service makes it possible to evaluate the behaviour of components, assemblies and products under conditions relevant to their practical use.
The service contributes to reducing the technical risks associated with design and manufacturing, through the early identification of critical areas, the verification of functional performance and the optimisation of product geometry. The models analysed can be used for structural simulations, flow evaluations, dimensional validations, functional checks and the preparation of prototypes, depending on the beneficiary's requirements and the complexity of the application.
By integrating 3D design with numerical simulation, ICSTM supports the development of products that are more efficient, safer and better adapted to technological requirements. The service is useful in the stages of design, virtual testing, structural optimisation, rapid prototyping and preparation for manufacturing, contributing to a shorter development cycle and to lower costs generated by design errors or repeated physical testing.
The beneficiaries of the service are companies, public institutions, research institutes, technical universities, product developers and economic operators in fields such as the automotive industry, the aeronautical industry, industrial equipment, metal structures, energy and mechanical design.
The activities are carried out using high-performance graphics workstations, CAD licences, simulation applications such as Flow Simulation, a 3D printer or CNC equipment for validating prototypes, a 3D scanner for reverse engineering, prototyping consumables, testing materials, additional software programmes for advanced validation and support infrastructure for measurement, inspection and assembly.
