The RDI service "Laboratory characterisation of photovoltaic cells and panels" provides specialist support for the testing, evaluation and characterisation of the performance of photovoltaic components under controlled laboratory conditions. The service is intended for determining the parameters relevant to efficiency, power output, functional stability, quality and reliability, contributing to the independent verification of photovoltaic cells, modules and panels.
Through this service, ICSTM supports the analysis of the behaviour of photovoltaic components in relation to environmental stress factors, such as temperature and irradiance, and the identification of any faults, non-conformities or deviations in performance from the manufacturer's specifications. The tests can support product comparison, the assessment of batch quality, the verification of performance before purchase or installation, and informed technical decisions in photovoltaic projects.
The service is relevant for manufacturers, developers, importers, investors, quality assurance organisations, companies in the energy, green technology and IT/digital sectors, as well as for SMEs, technology start-ups, corporations and research institutions interested in validating photovoltaic solutions and optimising the performance of energy systems.
The analyses are carried out using solar simulators, an IQE-200 system, multimeters, function generators, current and voltage sources, hot air stations, soldering stations, spectrum analysers, an oscilloscope, an experimental photovoltaic platform, inverters and other equipment, materials and ancillary software solutions. Through these resources, ICSTM provides experimental data useful for quality control, diagnosis, technological validation and the development of high-performance photovoltaic products.
