The RDI service "Multi-vector energy assessment and energy mix optimisation" provides specialist support for the analysis, modelling and optimisation of energy systems that integrate several energy vectors, such as electricity, heat, gas and renewable sources. The service is addressed to industrial sites, energy-intensive facilities, complex infrastructures and smart energy projects that aim to increase overall efficiency, reduce consumption and achieve a better integration of renewable sources.
Through this service, ICSTM can carry out detailed assessments of energy consumption, of energy flows and of the way in which different sources and technologies contribute to the operation of the system under analysis. The activities may include identifying opportunities for optimising the energy mix, evaluating storage options, analysing conversion solutions such as power-to-heat and power-to-gas, as well as estimating the potential for integrating renewable sources into hybrid energy architectures.
The service supports technical and economic decision-making through modelling, simulation and experimental analysis tools that make it possible to compare operating scenarios and to estimate the benefits associated with different energy configurations. The results obtained can contribute to reducing operating costs, improving energy efficiency, increasing system resilience and supporting the transition towards more sustainable energy solutions.

The activities are carried out using PV&ST (photovoltaic and solar thermal) experimental platforms, building and energy management systems, function generators, current and voltage sources, hot-air rework stations, soldering stations, spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes, cogeneration systems, inverters and other equipment, materials and auxiliary software solutions. Through these capabilities, ICSTM offers RDI support for the development and validation of integrated and efficient energy solutions, adapted to the current requirements of the business environment.
