The RDI service "SMD circuit board processing" provides technological support for the manufacture, assembly and inspection of electronic circuits with surface-mounted components. The service covers the essential stages of PCB processing, from the preparation and cleaning of the board, the application of solder paste to the pads of the SMD components and the placement of these components, through to fixing by thermal treatment, the inspection of the resulting circuit and functionality testing with specific instruments.
Through this RDI capability, ICSTM supports the development of electronic prototypes, experimental series and technical applications that require the reliable integration of SMD components on printed circuit boards. The service is relevant to the validation of electronic concepts, the production of functional modules, the verification of interconnection solutions and the optimisation of electronic assembly processes.
The beneficiaries of the service may be companies, public institutions, research laboratories, product developers and organisations active in fields such as the automotive industry, general electronics, household appliances, medical devices, military devices and the ICT sector. The activities are carried out using specialised equipment and materials, including ProtoPlace S and ProtoFlow S, a constant pressure line above 5 bar, solder pastes of different viscosities and alloys, special flux, a vacuum desoldering pump, a professional soldering and desoldering station with adjustable temperature, a special syringe, special syringe tips, customised thermocouples, high-temperature-resistant adhesive pads, high-temperature-resistant precision gloves and cleaning spray for PCBs.
